Megan Veldee - Biography

About the Artist

Megan Veldee

Soft Pastel Artist

It is an honor and pleasure for me to share my art with you.

I love this beautiful world. It gives me great satisfaction to capture just a bit of the beauty and mystery that surround us in the art that I make. I believe that experiencing beauty brings HOPE!

I received formal training in art and design while attending the University of Washington. My first careers, however, were in clinical dietetics and nutrition research. I re-entered the art world as an elementary school art docent and continued to teach drawing to children and elementary education teachers long after my children had graduated.

I love to create and have become proficient in watercolor, oil, acrylics, soft pastels, ceramics, printmaking, and the culinary art of chocolate-making.  My art leadership activities have included hands-on drawing, collage, printmaking and chocolate-making workshops, prayer events using sacred art, curating the art collection at my local church, and mentoring students in Alain Picard's online portrait and landscape courses.

I circuitously "discovered" soft pastels in 2016 as I sought to add pigment to Akua ink mono-prints. I immediately fell in love with their vibrancy and textures. Soon after, I was fully devoted to painting with soft pastels. My art career was launched in 2017 by selling my works through local art fairs and studio sales, and more recently through galleries and Society events.
